Research profile

Water in the city: climate-resilient and ecological transformation of the urban water balance with specific focus on the analysis of water availability, drought, water stress of plants, evaporation cold, high-intensity storms, urban flash floods, diffuse pollution in cities, sustainable urban drainage measures and usage of alternative water resources

Water extremes in sensitive landscapes: identification, trend analysis and impact analysis of drought, heat, high-intensity storms and over-use in heavily modified landscapes

Scientific Approach

Integrated monitoring of parameters and processes at the interface of hydrology, geomorphology, ecology and cities

Merging models with data

Modelling of feedback mechanisms between water, soil and vegetation processes to identify tipping points which can lead to sudden change of system behaviour
